Super Glue is your Friend

A few days before Thanksgiving, I cut my finger. Actually, it's more like a clean slice. It's in a place that caused me to not knit because it was altering my gauge. How sad is that.
Then, I discovered the power of super glue. It had been about a day since the cut and I decided to try coating it with super glue. It worked! So I'm back to knitting again. Yippie!
The shawl is now ready for the lace border. I am trying to decide what yarn to use for my Bucket o'Chic hat that I am knitting for my first ever knit-a-long through Fluffa!.
I just love the knitting bloggers, they are so creative and inspiring.

On the non-knit side of my life....Thanksgiving is over and I participated in my first "Buy Nothing Day" on the day after. It was cool to not be out in the mahem of the post-thanksgiving shopping craze. And now I have more money for yarn!
I got to see my dad and his family whom I haven't seen for months. No big fights were had at either of the thanksgivings I went to. So all went well...
I gotta get knitting now, so amuse yourselves while I'm gone.

Spinning to follow...

Well, back to spinning for the shawl, I ran out of yarn.

In the mean time, I think I'll finish H-Bomb's felted slippers. He picked the color pink with green trim for his slippers. The poor boy, his favorite color in the whole world is pink. And I, being the free to be you and me type, think it's his choice so, he may get picked on by others. Or, maybe he won't.

I also found out that I am getting the bookshelf I want for Christmas from my Mom. YIPPIE!! It is oak and I'm just not an oak-ey person. Paint is definately in order. We are going with a paint wash in red on the outside and on the shelves with a charcoal/black wash interior. I hope it doesn't look to asian, since we are going for a mod-fifties look in our living room. I'll keep you posted.

Is it Done Yet?!

As some of you know, I am working on a massive piece of knitting currently called "The Shawl". It acutally didn't start out massive, so at first the knitting went very quickly. Now it's heavy and each row takes forever. It is one of those patterns that you knit until it is the size you want and part of me felt like saying last night "Oh, yeah, this is long enough....sure" But I know that if I do this, then I'll be so mad when it's finished and it could be a bit longer. So I continue to knit, and knit, and knit..... The bummer is that I spun the yarn myself and thought I would have more than enough. I was wrong. I do have enough wool to spin up more but, talk about halting the momentum. I am on a mission to finish this soon to be beautiful shawl so I can wear it around proudly and say, "Why yes, I did knit it myself....isn't it just loverley! And toasty warm too!"
(Who me have an ego? You betcha!)

I love foreign films. They seem to be more relevent to my life and have actors in them that represent the true look of most people I know.

So go ahead and rent it for the weekend, you'll have to read the subtitles unless you speak fluent french but it's totally worth it.

Why I will never be an interior decorator...

The 2 tables look like pure crap! The cafe chair is awesome. We put new fabric on the cafe chair also, it looks sort of like this:


The paint I used for the chair was just a basic glossy black, it went on even and looks great. For the tables I actually bought some very expensive paint $8 a qt. It looks like gun metal grey instead of black. It is just crap. So, I may just go buy a few more cans of the cheap 98 cent cans of this spray paint and try again with that.

Boy, home improvement never is as easy as it is on tv!

Carey Grant is HOT!

Yes, I know he's dead but can you even beat him in the sexiest man who ever lived department! He has such a girlie name and can pull it off because hey, he's Carey Grant for god's sake!

We went to a new coffee place today. It's here in Richland called Barracuda Coffee Company. It has a nice vibe to it and is locally owned. The coffee is "ok" and nearly double the amount as at starbucks. I understand the importance of supporting locally owned business but c'mon $1.85 for a child's hot chocolate! Also, they have weak hours, most nights they close at 7:00 so that won't work for me to meet with friends in the evenings when our sig. others are home with the child units.

On yet another note...I am secretly addicted to home improvement shows like "Trading Spaces" and "Clean Sweep". I just love the before and after pictures. So I have decided that painting furniture that doesn't match in style the same color actually makes them more cohesive. So, I bought some black paint for an occasional table and a cafe chair. We'll see if I get the "look" I want. I'll keep you posted...

Friends are Cool

I got to talk to a friend today on the phone for a long time (you know who you are!) and as a bonus, right when I got off the phone, a friend arrived for a play date. So I got to be interact with 2 grownups in one day! Well then there was Troy, he's a grownup. But, I see him every day. Then there is the voice in my head that we'll call "me" but I'm pretty sure that one isn't a grown up. Well you get the point, today has been great so far!

I Think I'm Getting It

I changed my background color and also by comments box. WoooHooo!
I'd love to play around with it some more but according to H-Bomb, I'm on the computer for a week!
His new slippers are coming along nicely. I should be finished with one today and will start the other. Maybe by next week he will finally have warm feet.
I actually exercised today. Pilates via a DVD. I hated it, of course but it is done for the day. Between H-bomb jumping on me and my DH talking to me, I am sure I won't be doing it again any time soon.
Chloe is getting ready to do a belt test for karate. She is going to a yellow belt. I kinda wish she would decide she would rather do climbing instead of karate. But, it is her choice and she is liking it again so there it is.
We are going to the park again today to practice riding the bike so.....LOOK OUT!
