Amadeus

We just recently watched the movie Amadeus.

I remember liking the movie when I first watched it. I didn't dislike it this time but was shocked at how "hokey" the whole thing was. The costuming was ok. The wigs were great. The story line was really only so so. And this movie won for best picture in 1984. Every time I saw the emperor I could only think of principal Rooney from Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986..and should have won something it was hilarious).

Another person who never won an Oscar and should have is Cary Grant. On PBS's American Masters last night they did a documentary of his life. He was a very interesting guy and British (didn't know that). There is a wonderful essay here. If you can catch this you should because there really isn't anyone out there today as hot as Cary Grant was (maybe George Clooney....and that's a BIG maybe). He was a genius.

We just recently watched North by Northwest. This movie was awesome! It's a Hitchcock film starting Cary Grant(of course) and Eva Marie Saint(a la On the Waterfront).

It's a great movie, so see that one instead of Amadeus.

Sickness Strikes Again...

Sorry I'm not posting much this week. I have a "non-specific" throat infection. They will know specifically in a day or two. But for now, I'm on anti-biotics, pain killers, soft foods, and rest. The worst part is the recuring fever. Blah!

Since Troy is getting amped for his concert on Saturday, he's sure my mission in life is to ruin his good time. LOL

Well, I don't have a great track record.
UPDATE:
It was Strep Throat.
feeling better...thanks

Norwegian Sweater Sleave

In addition to all the other knits happening around here, I actually started on the sleeve for the Norwegian Sweater from Hell(notice I gave myself another 1% on my side bar).

The funny thing is that I'm right on track with the class I'm taking. We are supposed to be working on sleeves at the next class.

I am an evil genius...mwahhhhh!

I have tons of babies coming into my life right now. On the block that I live: my neighbor is pregnant, our backyard neighbor is pregnant, our kitty corner neighbor is pregnant, and our other next door neighbor has an infant. This of course in addition to my new niece and friend Ali's expected tater tot.

I just love knitting these wee socks.(must be knit while using a Scottish accent) They are pretty quick (in comparison to the aran square project) and are so cute. They're about 2inches tall.

Sock pattern is from Moi.

I was really dreading this project since it has 73 rows and all but maybe 3 are completely different from each other. Since I've taken this picture, I've finished the tree and have 5 rows left.

Can I get a, "Woo Woo".

So, Shmoo will get the square next week. It's one of a bunch for a charity project the knitting guild is doing. It will be put together with the others to form an afghan that will be given to the Cancer Center for their annual auction fund raiser this fall. I hope to get a final picture of the whole thing when it gets done to show you all. It should be spectacular.

Here is the newly painted bedroom. The color is "Pool Blue". Imagine yourself holding your breath under water and looking around. Then you realize, all of a sudden, you can breath under water. They you realize that you have been inhaling paint fumes for way to long.(the can warnings are there for a reason) Well, thats the color. When we were first putting it on the walls, the sun had gone down and I was feakin' out at the brightness of it. The next morning, with natural light, it wasn't so bad.

Here is a before picture to compare the two.

I saw this parked in front of our local Best Buy and was shocked at the absurdity. Not only was it sort of parked (check out that park job, btw) in a handicapped spot, but it was parked right in front of the store. How does this apparently disabled driver get into this monster anyhow?

As a side note, check out the Baha lights.
Bleh!

OMG! I'm one of THOSE parents now.

My 12 yo daughter has a cell phone.

She has a job that pays her $40 a month. This works out nicely for me because I don't have to give her an allowance and she has a little spending $.

She decided, even after listening to her father and my dissenting opinions on the matter, to buy herself a cell phone.

We made it hard, we even told her we wouldn't sign any paperwork. Her grandmother agreed to let her piggy back onto her line at a monthly cost of $15 and she had to buy her own phone at $35. So, she's now broke but she has a new cell phone.

She's very trendy, and I didn't even know it.
