Another Fair Photo

At the fair this year, HBomb tried for the first time ever the kids pedal tractor pull. He had a lot of fun and plans on training for next year. He pedaled 75lbs. He only weighs 50.

Slide-Happy

We went to the local fair this week. It was fun but it was still the fair. Everything is way over priced and expensive. Luckily the kids were happy with the snacks that I brought from home and the water bottles that we kept re-filling.

When fair is over, it feels like fall to me. I'm looking forward to October aready.

Mayfield

Sorry it's been a while. With school starting soon, I've realized I have a ton of things I want to get done before it starts. I've been focusing on those projects instead of blogging.

Here is a picture right from our proverbial "front door" at our camp site at Mayfield Lake.

Mayfield

In the mornings it was over cast and cool. Definately sweatshirt weather. Everyday between 11:30 and 12:30 it would burn off and the sun would be bright and hot for the rest of the day. The evenings were warm and the sky was clear. Tons of stars to look at.

I would consider visiting there again other than the winding mountain pass roads made my son car sick. He never barfed but was miserable for about an hour or so. He's never had this reaction before and we've been on long road trips (6 to 8 hrs at a time) I think it had to do with the winding, trees, and the game boy we couldn't pry from his sick little hands.

Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!!!

Thanks so much for all the well wishes on my decision to return to school. I'm a bit nervous but very excited as well. Like Stitchin' Sheep said, I am more focused and want to be there. It will be very interesting to use my "adult skills" in college.

I just rustled up my transcript from my last degree and my accumulative GPS was 3.25 (it was the math that dropped it). I'm sure this time it will be much higher. Another cool thing is that many of the classes I took 10 years ago will transfer for this degree and I won't have to go to school as long.

The United States is pretty helpful in getting you the funds to go to school. And at most colleges/universities, you can register online.

A wonderful website to apply for federal student aid online:
Federal Association For Student Aid(fafsa)

Other Helpful Websites:
www.fastweb.com
www.collegeboard.org
www.collegeplan.org
www.wiredscholar.com

It's likely that some if not most of my tuition will be in grants and federal aid. If your serious about finishing school check out the funding options available to you. Not only will it pay for tuition and books, but you may qualify for living expenses as well.

Money should not be a deterent for you not going back to school. There are so many options available.

Thanks again!

Shower Musings Strike Local Woman!

Whenever anything big changes in my life, it happens in the shower.

Having another child: shower
Massage school/major career change: shower
Going back to college: shower

Yup, I'm going back to college. I want to get my bachelor degree in something by the time I'm 40. I'd like to become an interpreter or maybe move over seas and teach English. I figure, by the time I'm 40 the kids will be grown and (if all goes well) self sufficient.

I don't want to go back full time, 1/2 time is the goal. This year I'm taking French and (please don't laugh) yoga. The cool thing is that with my old degree, a lot will transfer and I only need to go back for about 3 full time quarters (at most) then I can transfer to a college.

I am now a student at our local college. I turned in the paperwork today.

Wish me luck!
