End of September

So, I'm starting to get used to waking up very early for school....NOT!!!

Today is friday and the day of recovery. I don't have school for 3 more days. It's not the school part that's hard it's the hours. I LOVE my french class. I think I'm getting the hang of it. We have our first test on Monday. WOO HOO!!

I hurt my back last week so I haven't been to fitness lab for a few days. I need to catch up this week though. My Dr. says only stationary bike for a while, no treadmill.

On another note, this freakin' wind is killing my allergies. I've had a sinus headache for two days. I've even succumbed to Rx allergy medicine, advil, and extra strength tylenol. This is all at one time people. It's taking the edge off but if I stand up to fast, or turn my head to fast, severe pain. Like an icepick in the forehead(that little reference is for you Troy). If it would just rain...maybe relief.

I've decided to get serious about our finances. I keep trying to ignore them but it's not working (duh!). I've started a second blog all about this journey so as not to bore most of you with my financial life.

Hope you all have a great weekend. We'll be at the ACT plays most of the weekend, hope to see you there!

Fitness Lab

Today was my first day at fitness lab. My orientation was at 6:00. That's 6:00 am!!!! OMG, I so didn't want to get up this morning. It was a complete waste of 20 minutes. We filled out a waiver, read the rules on the hand out (that we can take home and read at our leisure). Then, a walk around the fitness center. Finally I piped up with a "So, if we came to work out, can we get to it?" The bummer is that I couldn't use the 20 wasted minutes as actual lab time. GRRR

Today, I walked on a really high tech treadmill that simulates hills and valleys at different grades. It also takes your pulse and tells you if you're going fast enough to actually be doing anything. Oh, and it told me I burned 200 calories while using it. Since I also listened to a book on tape while I was walking, It felt like I was almost doing something.

I rounded out my hour by hopping on a stationary recumbent bike (who knew they even made these?) and peddled away another 10 minutes.

It's kind of nice to know I'm done exercising for the day. Even though I'm ready for a nap and it's not even 11:00.

French Class

Well, today was my first day of school. It was a bit scary at first then, after I relaxed a bit, it was great. One of the best parts is that when I came home, Hbomb was dressed, fed, and his bed was made! This never happens on a regular day with me at home, at least not by 9:30. The house wasn't half bad either.

First day of class, and yes, I have homework. The cool thing is it's fun. And, so far, I've gotten everything correct(we grade our own workbooks).

Yeah me!

La Belle et la Bete

We're getting ready for our Academy of Children's Theatre production of Beauty and the Beast. Chloe works back stage and Troy is now working back stage. I usually help with concessions but this year was able to sew some costumes as well.

Here is a 'Silly Girl' costume:
Silly Girl 1

And here is the Prince:
The Prince

I did another silly girl costume but didn't get a photo of it before I had to give it to the costumer. The craziest one was the Prince. The entire jacket is lined, there are shoulder pads, and damn check out those buttons (all hand sewn on of course).

I'm excited to see the actors in them and hope to get a few photos of them wearing them.

If you live locally, you must come and see the play, it's a HUGE cast and bound to be a hit.

In preparation for seeing the play, we got Jean Cocteau's La Belle et la Bete from netflix. It was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Film noir at it's best. The dvd had some behind the scenes footage and was remastered. It is in french and HBomb was pissed that he couldn't understand it all. He did, to my surprise, pick up on some phrases and I was shocked that language came so easily to him.

Lily

Our dog, Lily has been so bad lately. She's always been an escape artist but it's generally been through holes she finds in the fence. Recently, she's taken to digging holes under the fence. This dog is 4 years old and just discovered she can dig out. We've had to put her on a tether so she won't escape and get hurt or lost. It makes me sad to limit her to a 20 foot radius.

Bad dog!

Ella

This photo is from last weekend. I put her in the tree swing at my mother's house. She loved it. The best was when her hair got super static charge and started to fly up.

It's so nice having a baby in my life.

BONUS: Pick her nose with your mouse pointer.
You know you want to.

Banana Bread

Banana Bread, originally uploaded by That Bohemian Chick.

I've decided to use up the black bananas in my freezer. I think I prefer the thawed banana goo that comes from the peel like...gogurt. No mashing, easy measuring, no freezer burn, and I think it might even be sweeter and more banana flavored.

The recipe is from my Betty Crocker red and white cookbook. Very fast prep and makes the house smell great.

A New iPod.....

It's so hard to "Make a Decision" these days about purchases. When we got our iPod's, we wanted to get the newest one in hopes that they wouldn't be improved upon for a while.

And, basically, they haven't. Then I got an email for Apple today. They now have the Harry Potter iPod. Totally cool.

Check it out.
(NO, we're not buying one, just drooling a bit)

Cool Newly Found Blogs

If you haven't been over to Shmoo's new blog Vegan Lunchbox you have to check it out. She is taking photos of her son's lunches to inspire others to create animal product free lunches.

Also, I've found a blog all about sock knitting. It's a very addictive hobby. The name of this blog is called Sock Bug.

Finally Had it....

The dream that is.
Fall is such a magical time. I've always loved the romantic feel of fall. The definate change in the air, the promise of sweaters, mittens, and soup. There is also the begining of school. Fall is mysterious...

So last night I finally had a freakin' out dream about starting back to school. I had decided to take French and Spanish classes at the same time. The only problems it the classes started at the same time as well. So I was having to miss half the classes of each class and was completely confused.

Thank-god, I wasn't naked....
