2 dye 4

I've totally lost my mind.

Dyeing Prep

You know that merino/silk top from HelloYarn....uhhhh, I sort of dyed it all.
Dye Project 7.23.06

I got some cushing dyes and went to town. I wanted it to look like the ocean, I think I've come close. It's really beautiful. The above photos are of my favorite sections.

As soon as it dried, I couldn't help myself and started spinning it. I'm going for singles that are Aran/Heavy Worsted. It's a little less uniform since I'm going from spinning really fine to heavier. I'm hoping you won't notice much in the final knitted object.

Here's some of the yarn...
Mermaid Yarn

I'm calling it Mermaid Yarn, it's for the Clapotis (I swear I'm the last knitter to do this project). It'll be a Mermaid Clapotis. I've started knitting it up and the pattern is sort of dangerously mindless. There are some "pay attention" sections that I could easily space out on if I'm not careful.

WOOT for new fiber and yarn!!!

Crap. I just deleted my comment, so here's a sketchy new one:
Having just come from the sea, I'd say you captured it perfectly. Beautiful yarn, and handspun as well!
Groovy new wheel. I had no idea there was anything like it out there.
You are actually the next-to-last knitter to make Clapotis.
What's up with VOX? Not that I've got any time for anything else in my life. Great gnome-y site you've started.

It's beautiful! And actually, *I'm* the last knitter to knit Clapotis - I really, really want to, but I'm waiting until I'm somewhere other than Southern California - because here I'll have no use for it :(

Oh YUM!!! My favourite colors! I'm always amazed how different the spun yarn looks to the roving. And merino/silk, mmmmmh, I really want to spin that, too:-)
