We live in a pretty small house, 900 sq. ft. We like living in small places for many reasons. It's smaller and takes me only a half an hour to clean for guests. Less room means less stuff. We don't lose each other. And, it's cheaper to live in a small place.
Because we have lived in small houses, we like to go as small as we can when it comes to furniture. We've had a full/double size bed (one step up from a single) since we've lived together (15yrs). The sheets are cheap to buy, the size was perfect for our small bedrooms. We made sleeping tangled an art form I dare any to replicate.
We noticed back in October that the mattresses we had were getting pretty old. We'd wake up with stiff necks and numb hips. I looked into buying a new mattress set and it's more than we wanted to spend. We convinced my parents to buy us a memory foam mattress topper for x-mas. It really helped out a lot. The only problem is it shifted horribly during the night and we'd have to "reset" it every morning.
Then, we got a call from my brother. He and his wife were getting rid of their 2 year old mattress set for a "Select Comfort" bed. WOOT!! Then we found out, it's a King size bed. Well, it's free and he was willing to bring it over. What the heck. My sister donated a quilt and a set of sheets to the cause and my SIL's mom gave us a
Cuddle Ewe mattress pad for it. In the photo above you will see it looks like a normal albeit large bed. This bed is on the floor! There is no frame under it. I feel like the princess and the pea. The top mattress is so thick, I need to sew garters on the corners of the sheets to keep them on.
Now, we have the biggest bed I've ever slept in. There are moments when I can't even find Troy. We've gotten into a habit of meeting in the middle for a bit of pre-sleep cuddling then that's it, I don't see him till the next morning or evening if I don't have school that day. It's weird. Weird but, I LOVE IT!
HEY! And no trying to sneak peas over to test me out -k-.
